So awhile ago I had this idea for a short film which, siezed by a sudden flash of inspiration, I just turned into a six-page comic script. Anyone wanna make this for me? It’s got zoooooombieeeees… (actually all but one of those zombies are already dead but...)
PAGE 1:
Top panel (takes up the top fifth of the page) A silhouetted cityscape that serves as the title panel. The word “Graceland” is written in white on the left portion, with the credits in the bottom right. An off-kilter telephone pole should be visible among the silhouetted buildings and trees.
Middle panel (biggest panel, an even third of the page right in the middle) Establishing shot of the scenery from a treetop-eye view. It is day, with not a cloud in the sky. The area is an intersection in a suburban shopping district. Most of the windows in the various stores and strip malls are broken. Cars scatter the road at odd angles, some having apparently crashed. None are flaming or smoking; the disaster has long since passed. Skeletal corpses litter the area. A street light bent over one of the cars. Power lines draped across the road. A scene of old chaos.
Bottom-left panel (small, in the very bottom-left of the page) Close-up of one of the skeletal corpses, from the waist up. It lies belly-down on the asphalt, and a crow stands on it’s back.
Bottom-middle panel (same size as the left one, immediately next to it) Low shot of the strip mall’s sign against the sky. Bits of the treetops and buildings visible in borders. “S*Mart” in white letters on blue, with smaller, illegible signs beneath it, all different colors and styles.
Bottom-right panel (right next to the other two, slightly larger) A leg wearing a fancy two-tone shoe above a bedraggled pant leg steps onto the asphalt. From about mid-calf down. Trail behind the heel suggests it the wearer is shuffling. SOUND EFFECT: “Shff”
PAGE 2:
Panel One (Takes up the left half of the page, except for about a fifth of the bottom) Full-body shot of ZOMBIE, with the fancy two-tone shoes visible. He is wearing a blue polo shirt and is very badly decayed. His eye sockets are empty and most of the skin on his head is gone. His head is lolled to the side, his arms are curled up in the typical “malfunctioning zombie shuffle” pose, and his other foot is dragging behind, looking partially broken. The sun is visible in the sky above and to the left of his head, and the scenery hedges in the left and right sides of the panel. SOUND EFFECTS: “Shff shff” (near feet), “Uuuuuuunnnnnnssssssss” (near head)
Panel Two (Small box overlapping panel one and panel four) Close up on finger pulling trigger.
Panel Three (just beneath Panel Two, same size) ZOMBIE’s head, neck up. It is exploding. The bullet penetrates the skull in the back and blows off most of the forehead, spewing black organic matter. SOUND EFFECT: “KRAK!”
Panel Four (Next to Panel One, rectangular, three of them should fit snugly next to Panel One) ZOMBIE is on the ground, head out of panel. Down the road, in the distance, we see the small form of SCAVENGER. SOUND EFFECT: “Whud!”
Panel Five (just beneath, and the same size as, four) identical shot as before, but SCAVENGER is closer.
Panel Six (Beneath five, bottom of panel should be level with bottom of Panel One) Same shot, SCAVENGER is now close enough that we see they are wearing a tattered hoodie, gas mask, and backpack, holding a hunting rifle.
Panel Seven (bottom of page, below Panel One and Panel Six) Close up of SCAVENGERS fingerless gloved hand reaching for ZOMBIES pocket. Sky visible in background.
PAGE 3:
Top Left Panel (About a sixth of the page, rectangular except for the part bitten out by middle panel) Arial shot of ZOMBIE splayed on the road and SCAVENGER kneeling beside him. The backpack and rifle are on the ground next to them. SCAVENGER seems to be searching ZOMBIE’s pockets. SOUND EFFECT: “Schf schf”
Top Right Panel (mirror image of Top Left) Close-up of a crow’s head, sky and bits of tree and street light blurry in background.
Bottom Left Panel (Similar to Top Left and Right, when put together the bites taken out of this and Bottom Right should form a circle that Middle Panel is in.) Close up of SCAVENGER looking down at a wallet and pocket knife in their hand. The sky is lightly reflected in the lenses of the gas mask.
Bottom Right Panel (Get the picture?) SCAVENGER’s hand and forearm putting ZOMBIES wallet, pocket knife, shoes, and belt into the open backpack. Very close on backpack.
Middle Panel (Circle, biggest panel, in the middle of the previous four panels) SCAVENGER’S pov of the pocket knife and wallet being held in the palm of their hand. The wallet is open, revealing a photo of ZOMBIE (still alive of course) with his wife and daughter.
Bottom Panel (Bar taking up whatever is left of the bottom of the page) Silhouette of SCAVENGERS legs walking away from prone ZOMBIE. Some of the strip mall, not silhouetted, is visible in the background.
PAGE 4:
Panel 1 (bar taking up top part of page) Close up of the peep hole of a badly rusted door. SOUND EFFECT: “Knok knok”
Panel 2 (same size and shape as Panel 1, just beneath it) Peep hole opens, revealing SURVIVOR’s eyes. SOUND EFFECT: “SHAK!”
Panel 3 (Below and to the left of the previous panels, taking up about 2/3 of the width of the page. Inside the safe house, SURVIVOR, a black guy with a white shirt and crew cut, opens the door for SCAVENGER. He holds the metal door open with his right hand and fistbumps her with his left. She returns the bump with her left hand while holding the backpack strap with her right. SURVIVOR on the right, SCAVENGER on the left. They are shot from the knees up. The outside appears to be a solid field of bright white. The walls of the safe house are concrete. Bits of the wood cabinets of the kitchenette can be seen next to SURVIVOR.
Panel 4 (to the right of Panel 3, takes up about half the vertical space available) Backpack being thrown into the back of the ratty orange love seat.
Panel 5 (below Panel 4, same size) Side view of SCAVENGER’s head. She pulls back her hood and has one hand on the front of her gas mask, about to remove it.
PAGE 5:
Panel One: (Large vertical panel in the top left) Shot of SCAVENGER, unmasked, from a low angle, as if the camera were placed on the coffee table in front of the love seat. She is a young woman with short cropped hair. She is standing next to the love seat, her left hand pulling something out of the backpack, which is visible leaning against the love seat’s right arm. SURVIVOR is visible in the background to the left, doing something in the kitchenette.
Panel Two: (Small, short panel in top right) Close up of SCAVENGERS face, in profile, holding the picture up to her eyes.
Panel Three (Similar to Panel Two, beneath it) Close up of the picture being pinned to a bulletin board. Focus is on the pushpin, with most of the picture off the bottom of the panel.
Panel Four (Large vertical panel in the bottom right, balancing Panel One) SCAVENGER, knees up, standing in front of the bulletin board, looking at the picture she just pinned there. Hands are on hips. Her expression is neutral, vaguely satisfied.
Panel Five (Bottom left of the page, balanced by panels Two and Three in the top right) SURVIVOR’s hand holding the handle of a pot on the stove of the kitchenette. It is red and slightly banged up. Foam is bubbling out of the lid and running down to the glowing red stove top. SOUND EFFECT: “Fssssshhhhh….”
PAGE 6:
Full-page panel. Isometric shot from the front of the loveseat. SCAVENGER is sitting on the left side of the love seat, eating a bowl of the instant noodles SURVIVOR was making. She is slouched over very far, bending over the bowl. SURVIVOR is there too, standing on the extreme left side of the panel, with his own bowl. They both bear casual expressions. The empty backpack is on the right side of the loveseat, leaning against the arm rest. The loot SCAVENGER collected is scattered about the coffee table and the floor next to it, including ZOMBIES fancy two-tone shoes. Most of the shot is taken up by the bulletin board, which we see now is huge and covered with photos, newspaper clippings, and other assorted memorabilia. It is partially behind the couch, it’s left side extending upwards from about where SCAVENGER is sitting. It is easily as tall as one of the other characters, and extends to the right off the side of the page.
