This is an idea I stayed up very late working on, so it may not be entirely coherent. It's more of a rough concept right now. I'm hoping for an artist, but I'll draw it myself if that's what it comes down to.
Story opens with a still shot of an Imperial Chinese palace.
A beat, and an armored body crashes through the wooden door, splintering it.
Cut to the interior, a small, wiry fighter and a large, armored, hulking one going into badass kung fu mode on an army of mooks.
They fight their way through the crowd and flee, and we cut back 5 years to see how they got there.
The small one, Hao, is (at the time of the flashback) a 22 year old Kung Fu master, practitioner of Black Tiger Fist. He's small, with a lean build, and is an arrogant kung fu guy at the outset who eventually calms down and becomes a role model of sorts after learning humility. His nails are sharpened into claws, and he's strong enough with Black Tiger Fist to use qi to claw into stone. Can be boisterous, but gets very serious when he starts to fight. Quite acrobatic. When excited or psyched up, he howls at the top of his lungs, usually makes boasts like "I'm so good, they may as well rename the style Hao Fist!" and claims to be descended from Cao Cao himself. Applicable tropes are:
* Arrogant Kung Fu Guy
* Chick Magnet
* In A Single Bound
* Ki Attacks
* Knight Errant
The big one, Hong is (flashbacktime) 21. Practitioner of Meteor Fist. Larger than his companion, never grows out of being an arrogant kung fu guy. Fights like Feng in Tekken, with enough power to dent steel with a solid punch. Agile, but not as acrobatic as Hao is. Not as boisterous, but not cold, either.
At the outset of the story, Hao and Hong work together, traveling the land, fighting evil etc. etc. During their travels, however, the government they've been supporting is usurped by an Evil Chancellor, and a lot of policies change. The Evil Chancellor, fearing the renowned power of these two kung fu legends, decides to put a bounty on their heads and prepares the entirety of
the empire's army to bring them to justice.
Hao feels he needs to fight back against this injustice and embarks on a crusade to bring down the corrupt government. Hong, however, feels it's a hopeless cause, submits to the government, and offers to bring down his former ally.
Insert lots of kung fu, love triangles, Action Girls, the works. Setting is a semi-rural Imperial China in an Alternate History sort of world.
